drum roll

Anyone got a used 44 gallon drum they can spare? It's also called a 200 litre drum in metric enabled countries like ours. In any case, it looks like this.

If it didn't have anything too noxious in it that would be grand. I want to store water in it. Especially good for the rare occasion when water falls out of the sky for free even though it's not my watering day. It's insane. It just goes running straight off the roof and down the drain.

Why don't you just hassle the council and say that your wheelie bin got stolen and ask for a new one, that way you can move it around the garden when you need to water certain patches, much easier than a 44 gallon drum, chop the drum in half and use it as a bbq if you do get one.

Moreland have just placed 44 gallon drums next to all the established trees in the parks. Along with huge piles of mulch.

Seems an optimistic thing to do in current conditions, what with drums and mulch being the top of everyone's shopping lists.

Try Freecycle - though I have given a shit load of stuff away, I've yet to be successful in nabbing anything useful. If you make a request you have to give stuff away first though.

Or maybe people at Ceres have an ideas?

You can get 44 gallon drums on eBay for about $20-$30 dollars - see this auction for example - http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220099874166
